“There is a huge amount of freedom that comes to you when you take nothing personally.”
― Miguel Ruiz

So much of how we react to life is based on our self-esteem and how self-centered we are. If we find that we’re overly sensitive or prickly, perhaps it’s because we erroneously believe that everyone is focused on us or out to get us, when in fact they are not.

I am continually baffled by the people who have road rage. They actually think that the stranger in the speeding car had them in mind when they cut them off. I use that example because here in the states, I hear people complain about it over and over.
When we see it here in print, it seems petty to even give that sort of thing a moments pause…it’s a waste of energy to be angry at the speeding stranger who has moved on down the road, and not given what happened a second thought.

We’re all allotted so much energy and time in our lives. To waste precious energy on insignificant slights or happenings—is to steal from yourself. Our internal flames burn so much brighter when our energy is allowed to focus on the things that matter, the people that matter, and the beauty in our lives that deserve our time and attention.

Today, I refuse to squander my energy. I’ll focus on the things that matter and let everything else evaporate from my thoughts!
