Too many women experience emotional pain and want better lives, but they never achieve that ideal life because they forget to nurture their spirits. We are body, mind and spirit and have to address all three aspects if we want to live wholly, happily, and comfortably in our own skin. Spirituality speaks to everyone—it begs us to honor the spirit within each of us. It’s not about religion and dogma, it’s about honoring that aspect of ourselves that needs fed as much as a body needs food to survive. When we work to align our spirit-self with the spiritual, we can’t help but create harmony in our lives.

So much of our being has been overshadowed by the insatiable quest for materialism. People tend to think that once they have acquired all of the possessions that their heart desires, that then, they will be happy. It never seems to work out that way. It was never about being happy “if” and “when,” it’s about learning to find happiness in the now. Whatever is going on in your life now, you can still find something to make you smile, some reason to be grateful. Society feeds us the lie that material possessions will make people feel better. It’s a lie that never delivers. Too many women turn to wine, sex, shopping, and me—anything outside of themselves to make themselves feel whole.

There is no replacement for a rich interior life. If you find yourself in a difficult space, ask yourself this: when was the last time I talked to God? If I don’t believe in God, what do I believe in? How can I align myself with the power of the universe to manifest my dreams? We all have to be willing to do the searching. Our solutions will come, but those answers rarely manifest in the form of a new Tory Burch purse or Jimmy Choo shoes!
